Who is Mya-Breyana Morton?

Mya-Breyana Morton is a multi-hyphenate award-winning creative artist from Lithonia, Ga., dedicated to amplifying marginalized voices through film. She holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in Film & Television Production from Savannah College of Art & Design and specializes in directing, cinematography, and screenwriting. Named to Forbes 30 Under 30 Class of 2024 & Forbes 30 Under 30: Atlanta, she is also a SeriesFest Collegiate Spotlight Fellow and a Visionary Justice Story Lab Fellow. Raised in Kuwait, her multicultural background fuels her passion for bold, inclusive storytelling..

Her portfolio includes the Webby Award-winning and Emmy-nominated short film, "Because, I Love You" and award-winning student films like "What Remains of Emily," "Proud," and "The Traveler," (featured on WABE/PBS's Atlanta on Film.). She recently wrapped production on her latest short film, Breathe—a coming-of-age dramedy that explores themes of anxiety, self-acceptance, first love, and emotional growth. The film was developed with support from the Visionary Justice Story Lab. Morton has also collaborated with Canva, Target, iHeartMedia, and Economist Impact.

She is a dedicated mentor and educator, having spoken at panels for Georgia State University’s NAACP and Spelman College. She has also taught classes as a guest lecturer at the University of Georgia, covering cinematography, production basics, and women in media. 

She is the Co-Founder of the Production Circle, a community center for independent artists, and the Founder and Creative Director for Unconscious Media, helping brands craft cinematic narratives. Through her work, Morton continues to push creative boundaries and foster inclusive spaces in film.
